Thank you for choosing a Breesee Shade! Designed for quick DIY installation and built to withstand Australian conditions, your shade offers both style and functionality. Please follow the instructions below to ensure optimal performance and longevity.

What’s Included

  • 1x Breesee Shade – 100% polyester with stainless steel eyelets

  • 1x Canvas Drawstring Storage Bag – 100% recycled cotton

  • 1x 2mm Drill Bit – M2 High-Speed Steel (HSS)

  • 6x Stainless Steel Screw Hooks – 304 grade (4 required, 2 spares)

  • 6x Elastic Hooks with Plastic Ball Ends – Natural latex core with polyester outer (4 required, 2 spares)

Tools & Materials You’ll Need

  • Measuring tape

  • Pencil or marker

  • Power drill (compatible with 2mm drill bit)

  • Ladder (if mounting at height)

  • Suitable mounting surface (e.g., wooden posts or beams)

Setup Instructions (Approx. 10 minutes)

1. Measure Your Space

Decide on vertical or horizontal orientation for your shade. Ensure the mounting area is 10–50 cm wider than the shade dimensions to allow for proper tensioning on all corners.

2. Mark Mounting Points

Use a pencil to mark four points where the screw hooks will be installed. These marks should be positioned diagonally from each corner of the shade and spaced evenly to allow the elastic cords to pull the shade taut across the space.

3. Drill Pilot Holes

Attach the included 2mm drill bit to your power drill. Hold the drill perpendicular to the wood to ensure your pilot holes are straight and even. Drill holes approximately 1 cm deep at each marked point.

4. Install Screw Hooks

Screw in the stainless steel hooks firmly into each pilot hole. Make sure the hook openings face outward from the position of the shade.

5. Attach Elastic Hooks

Thread one elastic cord through each corner eyelet of the shade. The plastic ball should be on the front side of the shade and the cord should span diagonally toward the corresponding screw hook. Loop the elastic over the hook to secure.

6. Adjust Tension

If the shade appears saggy or creased, unhook and remove the elastic cord from the effective corner of the shade. Slide the plastic ball back slightly and tie a small knot to shorten the elastic. Reattach the cord and check tension. Repeat for other corners as needed until the shade is evenly stretched and flat.

Usage & Weather Considerations

The Breesee Shade is designed to provide shade and shelter from light wind and light rain.

Always remove the shade during:

  • Strong winds

  • Heavy rain

  • Hail

  • Extended periods of non-use

This practice prolongs fabric life and maintains tension integrity.

Removal & Storage

Removal

Unhook all elastic cords from the screw hooks and detach them from the shade eyelets. The stainless steel screw hooks are intended to remain in their mounting positions for repeated use.

Folding the Shade

Ensure the shade is clean and completely dry before folding. Fold the shade multiple times along its length. Place the elastic cords neatly on top of the folded shade. Roll the shade up, enclosing the elastics inside. Store the rolled shade and elastic cords in the original canvas bag. Keep in a dry, cool place out of direct sunlight.

Care Instructions

Cleaning

Hand wash the shade and canvas bag in cold water using mild detergent. Do not bleach or use harsh chemicals. Do not machine wash.

Drying

Air dry the shade and bag in a shaded area. Ensure both are completely dry before storing to prevent mildew. Do not tumble dry.

Removing Creases

We recommend that you use a steamer to remove any creases from the polyester fabric. It’s also possible to use a warm iron, but it is important that you use an ironing cloth so that the iron does not make contact with the fabric.

Longevity

To extend the life and vibrancy of your Breesee Shade:

  • Avoid prolonged exposure to weather elements such as direct sunlight, wind, and rain when not in use.

  • Inspect all components—elastic cords, eyelets, and fabric—for signs of wear or damage before each use.

Safety Warnings

  • WARNING: Rebounding hooks can cause serious injury or blindness.

    • Place hooks with care.

    • Keep face and body out of rebound path.

    • Do not overstretch elastic cords.

    • Do not use cords showing signs of wear or damage.

Tips & Support

Only the screw hooks should be left in place for repeat use. Remove the shade and elastic cords after each use unless for short-term applications.
